The Story Behind Recuerdos.
I’m Larissa Roberts – a teacher, a traveller and life long inquisitive. I believe that the best souvenirs are the memories and stories we carry home.
I spent part of my early childhood in Argentina – surrounded by exotic plants and creatures, vibrant colours, tastes and sounds in a world that was utterly magical to me. The magic stayed with me and I felt the strong pull to return to my childhood home 50 years later – I discovered the past and also a wonderful artist who is now my dear husband.
For many years I’ve been carrying a scrapbook in my mind – my travels, photographs, notes of fascinating historical stories I’ve researched, and much memorabilia that I’ve been promising myself I would one day pull together in written form.
Life is too short for ‘one day’ and I’ve now decided to turn the scrapbook into something real and enjoy sharing it.
Recuerdos is for all of us who are curious and young at heart – in our 40s to 70s and beyond. It’s for people who love nostalgia and reading stories with depth. It’s for readers who, like me, enjoy collecting moments rather than things; people who believe that a life well lived is made of the special memories we collect as our souvenirs and the connections we make along the way.
Every two weeks, I’m really looking forward to sharing a new issue of Recuerdos with you via your inbox- with articles full of photographs, stories and the kinds of details that make you pause, reflect and smile.
If this sounds like your kind of magazine, I’d love you to join me.
